This spectacular flower is born from a bizarre and fairly scraggly huge tree that although not native to Australia, seems quite at home in the tropics. The absolutely stunning large flowers are about the size of your fist and burst in clusters from the scraggly dead looking branches that awkwardly poke out like Medusa snakes from the trunk of the tree. The tree has cultural and religious significance in Southeast Asia and parts of the tree have been used in traditional medicine...
